Overview

Professional stump grinding & removal in Michiana

A leftover stump is more than an eyesore. It is a trip hazard, a magnet for insects and decay, and an obstacle to mowing, replanting, or building. We grind stumps below ground level so the spot can be leveled, seeded, or planted over.

We handle single stumps and full lots, including large-diameter and old, hardened stumps. Whether it is the finishing step after one of our removals or a stump someone else left behind, we can take care of it.

When you may need it

  • A stump is left over from a past removal or storm
  • You want to replant, re-sod, or build where the tree was
  • The stump is sprouting suckers or growing back
  • It's a trip hazard or in the way of mowing
  • It's attracting carpenter ants, termites, or other pests

What this service includes

  • Grinding stumps below grade for replanting or leveling
  • Surface-root grinding where access allows
  • Single stumps or many across a property
  • Large-diameter and aged stumps
  • Grindings raked back into the hole or hauled away — your choice
  • A level, usable spot when we're done
How it works

Our stump grinding & removal process

  1. Check access & utilities

We confirm equipment access and watch for shallow utilities and irrigation before grinding.

  2. Grind below grade

We grind the stump and major surface roots down below ground level.

  3. Backfill or haul

Grindings are raked back to fill the hole, or hauled off if you prefer a clean finish.

  4. Level the spot

We leave the area level and ready to seed, sod, or plant.

Safety & property protection

Stump grinders throw debris, so we set up the area safely and keep the zone clear. We watch for buried utilities, irrigation, and landscape lighting, and protect nearby beds and hardscaping.

FAQ

Typically several inches below grade — enough to re-sod, plant grass, or place soil over it. If you plan to plant a new tree in the same spot, let us know and we can grind deeper where possible.

We can rake them back into the hole as fill (they settle over time) or haul them away for a cleaner finish. It's your call.

Absolutely. We grind stumps whether or not we did the original removal.
